I am using a dell computer with Windows azure, and I was trying to join a Windows 2012 R2 server to a domain. But I am continuously receiving an error as mentioned: “an active directory domain controller ad dc for the domain”. Can someone help?

First thing you should do to resolve this error is to open and log on the PC that you are trying to connect.

In the start menu, go to the Network and Sharing Center. There, you will find a list of network adapters. Click on the one you want to connect to the domain. Click on properties through the window called network adapter. Then, go to Internet protocol version 4 (you can find it on the next window). In its properties, click on advanced. Then, click on the add button and when a window comes on the screen, enter the IP address of your domain controller. Now restart your PC and try joining again.
