Firewall Settings cannot be displayed

I have done a restore factory settings on my computer this evening. The actions are doing completely good after restoring the settings. When I reached the desktop screen popped-up an error

Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings.

When I checked the Firewall Settings from the control panel the system was not being able to open the settings. I restarted the computer but still the error comes out. Even the message icons from the system tray were invisible. I think there's a problem occurring with the restore of the computer. Windows Vista is the OS of the computer.

How can I fix this one?

The Firewall is not visible to the computer. Help T.y.

Hi!

I have seen the issue that you have with the Windows firewall and I suggest doing the following steps. We can restore the firewall settings of the computer by using the graphical user interface of the computer.

  1. Open Windows Firewall.
  2. Click the Advanced tab > click Restore Defaults > click Ok.

Here are some issues that you might encounter:

If a Windows firewall setting appears greyed out in the graphical user interface, and on the general tab and a message appears as, “For your security, some settings are controlled by Group Policy”, then it’s managed by Group Policy.

If all Windows firewall settings appear greyed out, and on the general tab and a message appears as “You must be a computer administrator to change these settings” then you do not have administrative rights to configure Windows firewall. We just need to restart and make sure that you’re logged in as the administrator.

The other option that we can do is to use the command prompt in accessing the windows firewall settings.
Click on Start

  1. Click on All Programs.
  2. Click on Accessories.
  3. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
  4. Type the following at the command prompt, netsh firewall reset and press ENTER.

Check if you can now enable the windows Firewall on the computer.

Hi!

I have some additional information and solutions hare that might be of assistance to the issue, if the problem happens again or if you have a friend who will have the same issue. The problem usually happens due to missing or corrupted Shared Access registry key, which represents the Windows firewall Service.

The problem usually occurs if your system is infected with a virus or on the process of virus removal. I would advise to run a thorough cleanup of the system like a full scan using your virus protection or by installing a virus removal tool.

Use this link and use this removal tool from Microsoft and then do the following steps:

Click Start > Click Run > Type Cmd > Click Ok > on the back screen/ command prompt type: Rundll32 setup api, InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132 %windir%infnetrass.inf 6 and hit Enter > Restart Windows > Click Start > Click Run > Type Cmd > Click OK > at the command prompt, type: Netsh firewall reset and then hit enter > Click Start > Click Run > Type firewall.cpl, and then hit enter > on the Windows firewall dialog box, click On (recommended), and then Click Ok.

The firewall should be Ok now.

Hopefully I somehow helped you with the issue.
