The Dell users eventually require unique serial number for identification of their device specs and for warranty purposes. Service tag is 7 or 10 character code. Generally present on the casing of the Dell device.

Follow these steps to find out service tag using command prompt from your pc/laptop:

• Open Command Prompt (Search in start as cmd or press start +r and type in run “cmd”).

• When you open command prompt, type wmic bios get serialnumber.

• Press Enter and required serial number will be displayed.

Figure is shown below.

Also it should be noted that it can also be used for other company devices for obtaining the serial number.
