What is the meaning of file permission error in Microsoft Word 2013? I recently open a document for editing using Microsoft Word 2013 on my personal computer, after I finished the editing and tried to save the document, the program started complaining that the doc can not be saved because of file permission error. What could be the cause of this and how do I resolve the error?

 Hi Margarete!

For the short-term solution you will have to rename the file every time you save it. Simply, rename or add only one word at the end or add a number.

These issues are related to the Word being set to run as Administrator user. You can resolve the problem saving a Word document due to file permission error by unchecking all the options in the Compatibility tab. You can easily find out how with the following steps:

– Navigate the path to C: / Program Files/ Microsoft Office15/ ClientX86 or Client X64/ Root/ Office15

– Right click on Winword.exe and the go to Properties

– Click on Compatibility tab and uncheck all the options shown. Click OK.

It should look like this:

– Try now to save the document and see if there is any changes in a positive way.
