I was trying to establish a PPP dial-up connection, it is displaying error 734 the PPP link control was terminated. How can I solve this error?

This error can occur because the default settings of dial-up connection are set to use Require secured password settings. To modify it follow these steps:

  1. Go to setting and select Dial-up connections.
  2. Open properties by right clicking the desired connection.
  3. In the properties, select Network tab.
  4. Uncheck the Negotiate multi-link for single link connection check box.
  5. Select ok; the connection will not set up.

If the error does not resolve, try this:

  1. Go to setting and select Dial-up connections.
  2. Open properties by right clicking the desired connection.
  3. In the properties dialogue box select the Security tab.
  4. In the list of options, choose Allow unsecured options and the select the ok button.

Dial the connection again
