Hi,

I take it you have two partitions in a single 1 TB hard drive and one of the partitions has the operating system installed on it while the other partition has all your data and your backup files saved? If that's the case, if you're just going to be using the native Disk Management tool, you won't be able to expand your operating system partition since it is the active partition being used by Windows. You may Shrink the operating system partition but you won't be able to Expand it. You can try checking if there's a third party software that you can use to accomplish this. You can try using this:

Thank you. Hope it helps you out with your predicament.

Hallo Eric,

You can expand the partition of your disk by using the computer management utility. Use the following procedure:

  • On your computer, type computer in the blank search field under start.
  • Press enter to open the computer management window.
  • Scroll down in the window and then click on disk management.
  • You will see the available partitions.
  • From the partitions, locate the partition that you want to expand, and then right click on it.
  • And then choose extend volume. Specify the volume that you will need to extend and then click OK.

You will have successfully expanded the partition's volume.
