Error in Windows Live Photo Gallery

Asked By 0 points N/A Posted on -

I've been using my Windows live Gallery for a few days now. I love the features in it, but as soon as I set default to it, I get an error.

The full error message is:

Windows live photo gallery encountered an error and can't start
Error code: 0x80070057
Has anyone encountered this error before?

How can I fix this

can anyone help me please?

Error in Windows Live Photo Gallery

Step 1

Your problem occurred if the database that tracks the pictures and videos gets damaged or corrupted. You can reconstruct your database by doing these steps:

Method 1. Reconstruct the Windows Live Photo Gallery database

  1. Click Start> Run> Type this command on the box: %userprofile%Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftWindows Live Photo Gallery. And then press the enter key.
  2. Right-click on Pictures.pd5 and then click Rename.
  3. Rename it to OLD_Pictures.pd5.
  4. Launch the Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Remember that Windows Live Photo gallery will reconstruct the database so you need to restart your computer to take the effects after modifying it and see if you can run the Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Method 2. Repair Windows Live Photo Gallery

  1. Click Start> Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Scroll down and look for Windows Live Essential. Select it to see the options to Uninstall or Repair.
  3. Select the Repair option.

Once the repair is done, restart your computer and see if you can finally run the Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Error in Windows Live Photo Gallery

If you’ve previously used Windows Live Photo Gallery successfully, try running the program under compatibility mode. Right-click Windows Live Photo Gallery then select “Properties”. Select “Compatibility” tab then check “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and then select “Windows Vista Service Pack 2” from the dropdown and then click “OK”. Run the program again then see if it works.

If this doesn’t fix it, click “Start”, “Run” then type without quotes “%userprofile%Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftWindows Live Photo Gallery” and then hit Enter. Look for “Pictures.pd5” then rename it. Launch Windows Live Photo Gallery. Windows Live Photo Gallery should rebuild its database. Restart your computer then run Windows Live Photo Gallery again then see if it works.
