Hi,

When i try to connect to a wireless network access point which is using share-mode network authentication in windows vista an error message is coming telling that  "Windows cannot connect to <access point>". Can anyone help me to fix this?

To solve the “Windows cannot connect to <access point>” error message on Windows Vista, you may try the following:

  • Click on Start
  • Go to Search
  • Type in Network and Sharing
  • Choose Network and Sharing Center found in the Programs list
  • Type in your administrator password if prompted
  • Click on Continue
  • Choose Manage Wireless Networks
  • Click on Add
  • Click on Manually Create A Network Profile
  • Enter the name of your network on the Network Name box
  • Click Shared on the Security Type box
  • Select the encryption type under the Encryption List if your network uses encryption
  • Go to Security Key/Passphrase box and enter your security key
  • Click on Next
  • Click on Close
