Error message received on start up of 3DS Max

Hello,

I recently downloaded and installed the Actor X plugin for 3DS Max 2009 32 bit version. But after installing this, whenever I try to launch 3DS Max, I get missing DLL error message. I checked and ensured that I had downloaded the right version. But even after trying several times to install, I still get this error message. I had also attempted downloading the 64 bit version and installing it. But this too doesn’t work for me. I then attempted using different browsers to download the installer and tried again. But this problem still keeps happening. Is there a clean utility available to completely uninstall the previous changes and begin again? I am hoping that this would resolve the issue. Have better ideas anyone? Please reply, I am all ears. Thanks a ton to all the helpful people out here.

Your problem sounds like a compatibility issue not with 3ds Max 2009 but with the ActorX plug-in you installed. Even if you said you downloaded the correct version of the plug-in for 3ds Max 2009, the application reports it differently. And remember, the ActorX plug-in for 3ds Max 2009 is available in two different versions: 32-bit and 64-bit.

If you downloaded and installed the incorrect version, you will surely have a problem. To fix the problem, download the plug-in again from ActorX Mesh Exporter Plug-ins for 3ds Max 2009. The download page displays different versions of 3ds Max and the two versions of the plug-in. Before you select a plug-in to download, make sure to verify if your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit.

To check what version you are using, right-click My Computer and select Properties. In General tab, you should see 64-bit under the operating system. If it doesn’t show this it means you are using 32-bit. So, download the correct version of the plug-in according to your operating system’s version. See image.
