ERROR : The Disk Defragmenter is not installed on your computer

My Windows Vista is running too slow, as I’ve search through for some solution I found something that may help my computer to run fast. I was instructed to Defragment my Window Vista and so I did what the instruction said.

  1. I open the Properties dialog box for my Local hard disk
  2. Click the Tools tab
  • I thought everything would be perfectly fine but the Defragment Now button is unavailable. I tried to close the dialog box and repeat the step but now I found another issue, an error message appear: “The Disk Defragmenter is not installed on your computer. To install it, double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon in Control Panel, click the Install/Uninstall tab, and then follow the instructions on your screen.”
  • Thing are getting bad, and so before it become worst I want some answer regarding my problem. What would be the reason behind this error?

Dear Alicia,

You may solve this problem if you have a windows vista CD with you. Inserting the CD you can add features that is needed by the windows. This problem may be created by any virus Or the copy of Windows you are using may not be genuine and lacks some feature that is important.

Whatever you can also try for a system restore to an earlier point from system tools that would help you much.

Hi there,

The problem may come from the fact that the installation process didn't go smoothly, or that the version you are using is the European version. The European version is known to have several default missing, if you are not using an European version this most probably is an installation hiccup.
 
To solve this follow the steps.
 
* Click on your start button, then on the search bar type regedit  and click enter
 
* Then on the left you will see a couple of entries, navigate to the following by expanding,
 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHIMESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionexplorerMyComputerDefragPath
 
* On the right plane you will see a registry entry, double click on it and set the data as follows
 
"C:WindowsSystem32dfrgui.exe
 
* Exit the regedit

Hi,

I can help you install the Defragmentation application onto your Windows Vista operating system.

I suggest you to insert the installation DVD onto your drive. The Auto play will popup and you can install the Defragmentation tool onto your computer. Once the installation is complete, restart your computer and see if the application is installed on your computer.

To speed up your computer, you can also try the following:

> Remove all the items from Startup. You can access it by typing “msconfig” in the Run window and then select “startup” and uncheck everything.

> Install a good Antivirus program onto your computer which has PC tuneup features.

> Try removing the temporary Internet files.

> Delete downloaded program files, such as Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets.

> Empty the Recycle Bin to free up space.

> Remove Windows temporary files, such as error reports.

> Delete optional Windows components that you don't use.

> Delete installed programs that you no longer use.

> Remove unused “Restore” points and shadow copies from System Restore.

Hi, Alicia.

If you face some problem on your computer. I can give you one solution.

You face Vista problem. So you need change your Vista program.

You can install Vista again. Then the problem happening or not happening.

If the problem happen you can do that, the Vista program change and again install new Vista program.

If you have not the program you download the program.

Then i hope your problem has solved.
