Error of Default Configuration occurs when I on my PC.

When I turn on my PC, I get a message on my screen '0162 Configuration Error Default Configuration used'.

Is there anything wrong with my PC? I have installed AVG antivirus. Should it be installed again?

Error of Default Configuration occurs when I on my PC.

As what I have read on some articles of this particular problem, this is a hardware problem.

There is a mis-configuration of certain hardwares in your PC. Some also say that this might be cause by the weakening of the CMOS battery. Every time you boot your PC, CMOS will automatically reset the settings of the BIOS. Any new device that you attach to your PC will not be recognized. Thus, the message of this error will appear every time Windows start.

I strongly suggest changing the battery of the CMOS. The battery of the CMOS looks like a coin. It is quite easy to remove and can be purchased on your local computer store.

After replacing the old battery, boot up your computer and open the BIOS of your computer by pressing F1. For some BIOS, “Delete” should be pressed. Press Delete or F1 rapidly when the computer begins to boot. After doing that, a blue screen with text will appear. Look for “Load Optimize Setting” or “Load Default settings” and save changes upon exiting.

That should fix the problem.

Error of Default Configuration occurs when I on my PC.

The error simply means that your system could not be able to boot from your hard disk and attempting to make a network boot. Go to your BIOS settings and ensure that the hard disk is on your boot priority. And also, make sure you can see the hard disk on the BIOS. Try resetting the BIOS settings to its default and then save it and exit. Check on the cables and jumpers as well and if possible to reinstall the hard disk.

After the above steps, reboot and check if the problem is fix.
