Error on Compaq Laptop DVD Rom

The DVD Rom on my Compaq laptop is not working. Whenever I insert a disc, nothing is registering on My Computer. I can hear the disc's spinning so I think it's working but nothing is appearing on My Computer. What can be the problem?

Compact disc drives are being used in some computing solutions. It is used in reading Compact disc, and Digital Video Discs contained with applications, such as operating systems, games, applications, and even files as well.

DVD Roms came in many figures. The large form factors being used in desktops, and the small form factor in laptops just like indicated in our question. 

How to fix such optical drives? One solution is that you need to used a cleaning disc just like in cleaning DVD players. You can try to clean your CD reading lens by just inserting this cleaning disc and let them play since latest cleaning disc uses demo music for that. After, shutdown your laptop, and try to reconnect the cd rom on your laptop.

If that is what’s happening, try cleaning the lens of your optical drive. You can hear the spinning of the disc right after you insert it because the optical drive is trying to read the disc. When you insert a disc to an optical drive, the drive will start spinning the disc to try to read its contents.

When the drive can’t read the disc or its contents, the drive will try to spin the disc much faster. After several tries and the disc still can’t be read, the drive will eject the disc. Before cleaning the lens, try cleaning the disc first. Get a soft clean cloth and wipe the surface of the disc. Wipe the surface very gently in a circular motion.

After this, insert the disc back to the drive and try again. If the problem continues, try cleaning the lens of the drive using a lens cleaner. You can use the lens cleaner of your DVD player if you have one.
