When I started using my computer today and start using it as usual day to day work, everything was fine.

I decided to check my email by starting the Microsoft Outlook 2007 and out of nowhere I’ve got this error message:

Error:

Microsoft Office Outlook

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook windows.

I don’t know how to deal with this. Did someone experience this kind of problem? Kindly assist me please.

Need to correct this problem as soon as possible.

Thanks.

This issue can happen when file in which retains the actual Navigation Panel settings gets damaged. This document is named profilename.xml, where profilename will be the your Outlook profile. This particular file will be stored in the next folder:

Windows XP:

  • C:Documents and SettingsusernameApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook
  • Windows Vista, Windows 7:
  • C:UsersusernameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftOutlook
  • A good indication this file is corrupted is when the file size is 0 KB

Hi,

  • This error message is caused by corrupted navigation pane software.
  • Once the data stored has 0KB file size in "C:Documents and SettingsusernameApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook" then this indicate that the software is damaged called profilename.xml

To fix this error message, follow these steps;

  1. Go to Start, Run and type: outlook.exe /resetnavpane
  2. There is a space after outlook.exe and before /
  3. Click Ok or press enter.
