I want to uninstall outdated version of iTunes but I keep receiving an error 1606 and I was unable to continue with the installation. I tried to uninstall it anywhere but the error just keeps on popping up. Can you be able to provide any help to resolve the issue?

Hi Jun,

Try following alternatives to solve the problem of “Error 1606” while installing iTunes

1)      Firstly uninstall both iPod Updaters.

2)      Then uninstall QuickTime (which comes with the iTunes installer).

3)      Check that all my registry values were correct.

4)      Restart your computer.

5)      After restart, start with new installation for iTunes.

This will solve your installation problem. If problem still persists, then try to clear the registry by deleting entries for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER, and re-create them manually (i.e. type in a new entry) exactly as they were previously listed. Reboot system.
