My DVD Rom is not working properly. When you insert a blank disk. It will normally read it. If you burn a disk on it, it will burn it but after 50% of burning process, it will stop. What is the best way I can do to fix this problem?

DVD Rom Stops at 50% Burning Process
Hi Techdee,
Perform a clean up on the DVD Rom drive to clear off any dust that might have settled on it. Also check for the cable that connects the DVD Rom to the motherboard to make sure that it is not loose.
Another thing that might be the possible cause to the problem is the software that you are using to burn, you can use another DVD apart from the one you have to see if it does not bring a problem. Or use the DVD on another computer. It brings the same problem, then the problem is with the DVD. It may be corrupt or scratched, you might consider getting another one.
Hope this helps.

DVD Rom Stops at 50% Burning Process
DVD Rom plays big factor for this when burning a video on a CD. Check DVD Rom from any unseen problem, like dust and failed to spin when it heats up.
Clean out the laser inside the CD rom and clean it with alcohol, use cotton to wipe out the laser beam. Now, try to burning the again and check if it stops at 50%.
If still persist, check how big the file is you'll going to burn on CD. CD can only accommodate up to 5GB more or less. You might saving large numbers of data that the CD can't store.
You will need to compressed this file first using WinZip or WinRar software then you may start burning it again to a CD.
