Does VLC Media Player have a crop option?

Hello fellow members,

I use just installed VLC Media Player for viewing my MPEG video files.

Is there a way or an option where I can record the audio or video in the video file?

Is there an editing option where I can crop a certain portion of the video?

Hi Effie,

Yes there is an available cropping tool / cutting tool for VLC media player, you just need to download the latest version of VLC media player. This can work for Ubuntu, Mac or even Fedora that cannot use windows based media player. Here is a link where you can see more information regarding VLC media Player.

Does VLC Media Player have a crop option?

Before, I use VLC Media Player to play only different media files on my computer and that’s the only thing I know how to use this media player but not until now.

It is really possible to record or simply to cut a portion of a video and then save it as your own clip. The manner of cropping the video to get only the portion you want is very similar to the manner of doing a recording in an audio cassette recorder where you need to press both record and play buttons to be able to record something.

And here’s how you can crop your video to your chosen part:

• Open VLC Media Player and then load the movie you want to crop.
• Next is to enable the Advanced Controls.
• After that, go to View and then Advanced Controls.
• Now drag the movie to the part where you want to begin your clip.
• After setting the video, click the Record and Play buttons.
• Click the Record button again when you reach the part where you want to end your clip. Use this button also whenever you want to stop the recording.

And that’s it your clip is done. You can find your cropped video clip inside “My Documents/My Videos” folder. You can also watch this video, “How to crop video or record audio with VLC media player – video by TechyV”.
