GPRS generally stands for General Packet Radio Service. Basically, for an ordinary user to understand, it is the basic network used by any mobile phone or handset that is normally offered in a 2G or 3G network. During the early days when mobile phones were still starting, this is the chief network used on every user’s handset.

It is a packet-oriented mobile data service offered by 2G and or 3G mobile communications network’s GSM or Global System for Mobile communications. WAP or known also as Wireless Application Protocol is the technical standard used when accessing information over wireless mobile network. This is a set of protocols used for connecting mobile phone handsets and other wireless devices to the internet.

Hello guys, thanks from the core of my heart. All of your comments were very reliable and educative too. According to your comments I have achieved knowledge about the basic difference between GPRS, WAP and 4/5G technologies which means, General Packet Radio Service is a packet-switching technology that permits data transfers through cellular networks. It is used for mobile internet, MMS as well as other data communications. Simply we can say WAP works over GPRS as well as GPRS permits WAP to work in packet style as an alternative of circuit style. (And it will be much quicker as well.) WAP also works over handy packet technologies for example CDPD, and other 3G technologies for example EDGE and WCDMA. With the help of this site together with the experts, I can easily manipulate my device in different levels of communications. Thanks guys one more time for your enhancing knowledge.
