Dell Power Edge server 2008 (64 bit) – Update Error 80072EE2

Hello,

I regularly go for update of my new Dell Power Edge server 2008 (64 bit). I unexpectedly get an error message like the one "Update Error 80072EE2" and it says that windows update option is not working in my system. I tried to solve it for many solutions provided in articles online.

I don’t use any proxy server and I’ve added the update site of Microsoft to one of those trusted site zones. I have also disabled the windows firewall and the antivirus (Kaspersky). But still it fails to update. Supports from Google says for renaming LAN connection and reinstallation of driver software.

But I can’t get the solution yet. What can I do?

Hi there James F Gilley,

If you are using the native Windows firewall there is no need of shutting it down. You will just need to add the following pages to your firewall exceptions list:

Another thing to do is to temporarily remove or disable all the tools that could affect your internet connection. That includes not only antivirus and firewall but also any proxy servers, antispy utility, illegal applications or internet speed boosters like Download Accelerator.

Best regards,

Drake Vivian
