Dell Inspiron stops from booting

I purchased Dell Inspiron 1525 14 months ago. Just recently, it stops booting but the power lights are on and activity lights blinks for about 4 seconds.  Supposedly, the media light will flash together with the activity light, it goes out but the power lights are still on. I tried all the command keys but the screen is still black. What do I need to do? Help please.

Do you hear any beep sound when you boot your pc. You need to have a mini speaker in the motherboard to hear this. These are codes that tell you about what kind of problem it has. This differs for different BIOS make so you have to find the beep codes for your BIOS. Go to their website to get this information or look around in a search engine. 

Take a look inside your computer. Spot anything wrong. Remove the RAM stick and put it back then restart.  Does this solve the issue.

Press Del key five times when booting, this will open BIOS. See whether everything is ok such as fan speed, cpu temperature etc

Hi,

 

Dell computers have a built in diagnostics utility that you can use to try and isolate hardware problems. To access the utility, when you turn the computer on, keep on tapping F12 to get to the Boot Menu. Select Boot To Utility Partition then run diagnostics there. If there is a problem you should be getting an error code. This will give you more information regarding the problem.

 

If you can't even see the Dell logo when you turn the computer on, try connecting an external monitor to your machine. If there's display on it, you need to have your LCD replaced. If you still can't see any display on the external monitor, then you have a bad graphics processing unit and you need to have it replaced.
