I have used Cyberlink's PowerDVD to watch DVD movies for ages and I think it's time to part ways.  I tried to uninstall but it keeps on hanging.  What does powerdvd dx progress bar hanging means?  I have PowerDVD DX 8.0 Full Version and Windows XP.  Need help in uninstalling.  Thanks.

Sometimes, the Windows uninstaller cannot uninstall the program fully. In this case, when you uninstall the software, the computer might be hanging and you cannot uninstall the program, so you must use a software to uninstall it. There are many uninstaller softwares. Out of all of them, I suggest you use either the Ccleaner or the Iobit uninstaller. Download one of the softwares from the following links and install it. These softwares work with XP.

  1. Ccleaner
  2. Iobit Uninstaller

Then, open the software. There you will see all of your installed software. Then, select Cyberlink’s PowerDVD software and uninstall it. Wait a few moments for it to uninstall. This way, you will be able to fully uninstall the software.

If the program keeps on freezing whenever you try to uninstall it, one possible reason is corrupt files. In this case, uninstalling the program is really not possible because the process will always stop at some point. To fix this, you need to run PowerDVD’s installer again and reinstall over the existing installation without uninstalling the program. This will overwrite any existing corrupt files it may have.

Once the program is reinstalled, click “Start,” “Control Panel,” and then “Add or Remove Programs.” On the next screen, select the PowerDVD program and click “Uninstall” or “Remove” and then just follow the instructions. Restart the computer if you are prompted. But if you no longer have the installer then reinstalling the program is not possible.

In this case, download the trial version of Revo Uninstaller Pro and install it. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then click “Forced Uninstall.” Click “Browse for” and select “Folder” and then navigate to the installation folder of CyberLink PowerDVD and select it. Click “Next” and follow the instructions. See if this works.
