Hi,
When I was using the feature of Internet Explorer 7 that enable me to add a search provider, error message box pops up that says it could not install the search engine that I would like to install.
Windows Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer could not install this search provider.
There was a problem with the search provider’s information.
The steps that I go through before this error message came about is, I went the provider's link, I look into those default list of search providers. I selected one and set it to be the default by checking the check box.
I was thinking of upgrading my internet explorer. Since it takes time, I also wondering if this feature wont work why they put it here, so I am thinking there is something wrong with my internet explorer.
I am now asking on how to successfully add search provider?
IE7: Could not install this search provider
Mikeallway,
Before you can start using a certain ""Search Provider"" on your Internet Explorer browser, you should add them first to your list. Choose and add them directly by navigating the search panel of your Internet Explorer browser. These screenshots will show you how:
You can tell if your desired search provider is can be installed by looking at the drop down arrow of the search bar on your browser. After loading the search provider's website, the drop down arrow will turn orange. It means that you can install the search provider.
If the problem still occurs, Go to Start – Run – and type this one: regsvr32 %SystemRoot%system32msxml3.dll
Have a good time!

Thomas
IE7: Could not install this search provider
Hi
I will help you to set up the search provider in internet explorer. The search provider you want to add should have some proper information about itself so that it can be installed in IE. Otherwise internet explorer will not allow it to install and add as a search provider. It is because internet explorer thinks it's dangerous.
You can add new search providers from search menu.
