Hello Expert friends,

Friends I never used Pro Tools HD 10 before this is the first time. I was a bit curious while installing, but it failed to launch. Don’t understand where I went wrong, struggling to find the cause of error. I tried deleting the temporally created DAE files and emptying the trash and temp files, but no luck. Thinking that anti-virus might prevent in installation, so disabled the anti-virus and tried again nothing worked. Please help. Your help is appreciated.

Error :

Could not allocate memory for the disk cache. Try lowering your disc buffer (DAE Buffer), disc cache size, or engine voice count. If you got this error on lounch, delete your prefs and try again. ( -9514)

Currently, the Avid Pro Tools HD 10 product doesn’t support Microsoft Windows 8 and later and since this is your operating system it will surely not work even if you reinstall it. However, if it is really necessary to install it on your computer with Windows 8, there is a small tweak that will allow you to run it even if it doesn’t support the operating system.

To begin, you need to install first the iLok Drivers. Once installed, open the Pro Tools Installer folder inside Avid Pro Tools HD 10. If you can’t see this folder, this is maybe because it is hidden. Unhide the folder by clicking View, Options, select View tab, and select “Show hidden files, folders, and drives” in Windows Explorer. See image.

Find the file “setup.exe”, right-click on it and select Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab and select Windows 7 in the compatibility mode menu. In “Privilege level”, check “Run this program as an administrator” and then click OK. See image.

After that, double-click on that “setup.exe” file to run it. Once the installation is finished, install the audio drivers the same way as you install Avid Pro Tools HD 10 by following the same procedure in compatibility mode to Windows 7. And also, if you are not yet aware, Avid Pro Tools HD 10 supports only NVIDIA graphics adapters with minimum 128 MB video RAM.
