Error 651 is a common windows error. This happens when you try to connect using PPPoE connections. This occurs due to multiple reasons.

  • The raspppoe.sys file saved in the wrong directory
  • Issues with IP setting
  • Issues with Registry

Error 651 generally occurs when we try to establish an internet connection using a broadband connection. The modem has reported an error titled “Connection failed with error 651”. Well, I search a lot on google and didn’t find any official solution but I tried some setting change, and that perfectly solved my issue and many others. These steps will help you to fix error 651 on windows 7/8/10.

  • This is a common troubleshooting step, so if you are using a router, then simply turn off your computer and after 5 minutes turn it on or if you are using Lan connection, then unplug the wire and plug it back.
  • The second method to solve is to reset TCP/IP on your PC. There’s a built-in tool available in Windows 7/8/Vista. What we need to do is launch the Administrative Command Prompt. Copy this command “netsh int ip reset reset.log” paste it and hit enter. Restart your pc. This method worked for me. If it doesn’t, there’s a list of other methods below try it.
  • Reinstall Network Adapter.
  • Recreating Dial-Up Connection.
  • Disable IPv6 of your connection.

1) Right-click theInternet icon and click Open Network and Sharing Center.

2) Click Change adapter settings.

3) Right-click your network connection, and click Properties.

4) You will find an option for Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), please uncheck the box. Click OK.

  • Disable autotuning feature.
  • Perform Clean Boot.
