Hi, can someone please tell me how similar or different cloud computing is to email? I think these two technologies seem to have similar concepts in storing data somewhere and providing the user with credentials and an interface to access and retrieve messages. Would you say they are extremely similar or practically the same or there is a vast difference that I am not aware of?
Comparing Cloud Computing Concept to Email
Hi Arthur K Baker,
I will inform you on the concepts of cloud computing and email services.
Cloud computing is the use of remote servers (computer) to store and manage data. This means the data is not kept on your personal computer, they are stored in the 'cloud.' This means your data can be managed and accessed from any device that is connected to the internet (Laptop, PDA, Tablet, etc.).
Email services are a type a cloud computing. Emails are not stored on your personal computer, instead, they are stored on the servers of the email service provider. Any web-enabled device that is connected to the internet can be used to access your email messages.

As mentioned earlier, email is actually a manifestation of the concept of cloud computing.
Thank you
Comparing Cloud Computing Concept to Email
Hello,
How are you? There is no basic difference between e-mail and cloud computing. But there are some risk factor in cloud based e-mail. In cloud computing e-mail and attachments can be stored in anywhere in the world. Cloud e-mail providers in general assert a license on all content including e-mail.There are security reports and unclassified but constrained information that can not be sent to these e-mail accounts. Cloud software is good enough whether the provider provides a warranty and security controls which most cloud e-mail providers do not. Learn more.
