Cisco asdm launcher unable to launch device manager

Hi there,

I ran ASDM troubleshooting and this error appeared. I have my Internet connection and is working just fine like usually. Is there anyone who can help me please to fix this error ? What is causing this and can this error be prevented in the future ?

Cisco asdm launcher unable to launch device manager

You usually get this error when accessing ASDM. Try downgrading your Java Runtime Environment to version 7 update 45 or Java Runtime Environment 7u45 then see if it works. If downgrading your Java Runtime Environment is not an option or it doesn’t work, another way to do it is to point your web browser to “https://” then select Java Web Start.

ASDM should work fine after this. Next, click Start, Control Panel and then Java. In General tab under Temporary Internet Files, click View. Select the item with ASDM then click on the top row icon that appears to be an arrow pointing up and to the right. This creates a shortcut on your desktop for ASDM.

Since the old ASDM desktop icon no longer works, you can now delete it.
