I am stuck at 3rd step of the Linux mint 11 installation which is "Allocate Drive Space".

I get the error message "No root file system is defined".

The buttons of adding and changing partitions is disabled.

Please help me out.

Cannot modify partitions in installer for Mint 11

Hallo Haroon,

When you are installing Linux mint 11, there is always an ext3 partition that is created, which you should delete so as to leave to leave some space that is not partitioned on the drive. With the Linux installer, create at least two partitions, which are required for two functions namely root and swap but you can still make additional partitions on the same drive if you want.

Otherwise you should check and ensure that during the installation you select "/" which should be on the main partition that you are installing your Linux on. That should help you solve the problem successfully.

Regards,

Lee Hung.
