Hello,

I am getting some issues with some users that accidentally hits the Shutdown button under the Start Menu that tends the Terminal Server on the Application mode to shut down. So I added a Logoff button through a GPO but I am still thinking If it is possible to remove the Shutdown button or disable it on the Start menu in which users can still be able to restart without knowing that there is no Shutdown button?

Here I show you the two methods of removing the Shutdown button from the Start menu:

  • First of all click on the Start button and then click on the Run button.
  • A dialogue will be appearing on the screen now type gpedit.msc and press enter.
  • The computer registry will be opened now search Computer Configuration and click on it and open Windows Settings.
  • When you click on the windows setting then pen Security Settings and open Local policies and after this click on the Security Options.
  • When you double click on the allow system to shutdown without to log on the option is enable you may disable this and click Ok
  • Then exit from the Group polices folder
  • And you may now restart your PC.
  • This Registry Operation will disable the Shutdown Button from the Start Menu.
  •

The other method of the same job is here

  • First of all open the Registry of the computer. Mean registry editor.
  • When you open the registry editor then open this Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPolicies.
  • After opening the search for No close string value
  • The change the value 1 for disable and 0 for enable the value.
