Hello there Shara!
Yes you can purchase a new XP license basically SP3 version. The problem is that if you can find one because almost it is phased out in stores & Windows 7 is the trend now and it is faster and stable with today's software. Basically Windows XP will be withdrawn by Microsoft in the year 2014 , so if you buy today there will be 2 years more remaining in your OS, thus making it not practical. So i guess you must decide for yourself if you will buy a new XP license or purchase a new Windows 7. I hope i have helped you in your problem. Don't forget to post your thoughts here and Good Luck!

The problem is you have not made clear the configuration of your computer. If your computer is up to date, I mean can carry the windows 7, then you should not think to buy XP license. It is because XP is going to be unavailable in the year 2014. The current year is 2012. So, you will get less than 2 years. But, if your computer is not compatible with windows 7 then you should consider the benefit of purchasing XP license compared to the benefit of buying new computer hardware.
