Hey Fenton cruz!
It is very easy to disable your floppy drive. You can disable your floppy drive in few minutes. All you need is just to follow these simple steps to disable your floppy drive.
1. Click on Start button and open Control Panel.
2. Double click on System icon and select Hardware Tab
(Alternatively you can right click on My computer and select Properties).
3. In Hardware Tab, click on Device Manager.
4. In the list click on Floppy drives and expand it by pressing the (+) sign.
5. Now select your floppy drive from the list and select Disable.
You will not see your Floppy Drive any more.
Thanks.
Hi, You have to make sure that your hard drive is a primary bootable device in BIOS.
You have to make sure that in boot sequence you have selected the option to boot from your hard drive. For this:
Restart the system and wait for BIOS set up message >
usually Del, or F2, that you'll need to press to enter BIOS SETUP >
Changing the boot order of the "bootable" devices on your computer like your hard drive, floppy drive, optical drive, etc. So select here boot from Hard disk >
Press + or – and your hard disk option will come on top and will become first bootable option >
Save and exit >
Restart the system it will boot from your hard drive and bypass your floppy drive. Here is screen shot of BIOS boot devices. Your system’s BIOS appearance may be different but almost similar options will be there. Here we will press + and 1st boot drive will be then Hard Disk.
By doing this you will totally bypass the floppy drive when ever you will boot your PC.And if you wish to disable this in the windows option as well then simply in device manager you can disable this. Here is image below. You will definitely get rid of this issue now.
Floppy drive is becoming obsolete because of the floppy disk’s small storage capacity but you can still purchase them sometimes from online stores and local computer stores. If your floppy drive is now becoming noisy when booting the computer, you can always disable it from the BIOS. Or better yet, you can disconnect the drive itself from inside the CPU to completely disable it on your computer.
There are two ways to disable the floppy drive on your computer: from the BIOS and from the Device Manager. To disable it in the Device Manager, right-click “My Computer” and select “Properties.” Select “Hardware” tab and click “Device Manager.” Expand “Floppy disk drives” then right-click “Floppy disk drive” and select “Disable.”
To disable the floppy drive from the BIOS, restart your computer then press Del to open the BIOS. In the BIOS, go to the boot options section and look for the floppy drive. Set the floppy drive to “Disable” then select “Save and Exit.”
