Can anyone access my webcam without letting me know? I'm afraid that someone can get access and see me without my knowledge.

Yes, as the IT world is so much improved now a day. So many software is being used to track, access other systems illegally. By sending a virus on your system (as like a cookies or temp).

It can be done by remotely turn on a laptop's Webcam.  There are many more legitimate programs on the market which are used to control the webcams used by the people. If someone has the physical access to anyone’s computer, it would be an easy job to install this software and turn it on remotely from any where. There is a program named as GoToMyPC which is designed specifically to allow users to remotely control a machine by using the Internet. Once connected with the PC, the person has the complete remote control over the other PC, including the webcam, microphone, and other features of it.
