Hi, this is perplexing. Whenever I watch videos, my Acer laptop would produce a buzz-like noise and after a while, would hang. I already added a video card (ATI 5450) but it would still do the same thing. I already did my updates on all my drivers. By the way, I am running at Win7 64bit. What should I do? I racked my brain and the internet but to no avail. Your ideas will be highly appreciated.
Buzzing Noise while Watching Videos in Acer laptop
Hi user
The buzz-like sound you hear is probably from the processor fan running at its top speed. When doing heavy processes such as gaming or watching videos your CPU usage gets high. As a result it's temperature rises causing speed of fan to increase to cool it. It normally wont be a much of a problem but in your case the system hangs. This means your CPU temperature is rising above the optimum point resulting in your system shutting down to prevent damage.
There is little ventilation for a processor in a laptop so make sure the air outlets are free of any obstacles on the sides of your laptop. Get a CPU temperature monitoring software check whether the fans are running at maximum speed. Buy a new fan if needed.
