It really depends on your current version of BlackBerry phone. Most BlackBerry phones I know already supports receiving of 3G network but I’m not sure if early versions of this phone are already capable of accessing 4G networks. So this thing really depends on your device if it is already capable of receiving these kinds of networks.

This is similar to a USB mobile broadband modem stick that uses 3G network to access the internet. Even if the area is covered with 4G network but your modem is only capable of accessing the 3G network, the other network is still inaccessible for the device. You can see it on the signal meter of your phone, the network type it currently accesses is indicated on the side.

To know if your phone can access 4G, go to your phone’s settings then manually select a network. If you see 4G in it then try selecting it then see what happens. You will see a similar message like “No Access” displayed on your screen which means your device can’t access that particular network type.
