Hi and good day TechyV Community of IT experts and computer geeks!

My friend did a good job of making his laptop into an Access point. But unfortunate for me, I have been struggling doing such thing. So guys and experts, here are my set of questions. Are there any available Ubuntu tool access point software that can help me make my laptop a wireless access point? Thank you very much.

Hi there,

You can easily turn your Ubuntu into a Wireless Access Point using only Ubuntu built-in features. However, you should note that there are some limitations – some devices may not support ad-hoc wireless networks and you will be limited to a WEP encryption. Also, your notebook has to be connected to the Internet with a wired connection as you can't just pass through the wireless connection.

Open your System Settings and then Network icon. To create a hotspot open the Wireless section and click "Use as Hotspot" button.

Network All Settings

Once the hotspot is created, click options to change the security key and the method and confirm the changes.

Shared to other Computer

Hope this helped,
