I am trying to run my newly installed Autodesk Inventor Professional Suite 2011 with SP. When I attempt to run it, an error is shown on my screen and it just closed automatically.  I uninstalled it again and re-installed it but ended up with the same exact error message from Autodesk. What is the cause of it?

That problem is occurring probably because the Autodesk version that you are installing is not compatible to the operating system that you are using, and therefore to resolve the problem I will recommend that you do the following:

  • Check the system specifications of your system. Check whether the operating system is a 32 bit or a 64 bit.
  • Once you have verified that, you will need to go to the internet and search for an Autodesk version that meets those system specifications.
  • Download it and then try installing it.

It should work this time round because it is compatible to the system.

Before installing Autodesk Inventor 2011, make sure your computer is fully compatible with the program. This is important so you will not be wasting money for a product that will not work on your computer. The program also has different requirements for models with fewer than 1,000 parts and for models with higher than 1,000 parts.

For general part and assembly design models with fewer than 1,000 parts, it requires 32-bit Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, 64-bit Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2, Windows Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition) Service Pack 2, or Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, or Enterprise edition) both 32-bit and 64-bit.

For complex models, complex mold assemblies, and large assemblies with more than 1,000 parts, it requires Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2, Windows Vista Service Pack 2, or Windows 7 all 64-bit.

For the hardware, Autodesk Inventor 2011 requires at least Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz or faster processor or equivalent Intel Xeon, Intel Core, AMD Athlon 64, AMD Opteron, or later processor; 2 GB RAM; graphics adapter with Direct3D 9 or Direct3D 10 support; DVD drive; 1280 x 1024 pixels screen resolution or higher; Adobe Flash Player 10 or higher; Windows Internet Explorer 6 up to 8; and Office Excel 2003 up to 2007.

The memory requirement for models with more than 1,000 parts is at least 6 GB RAM. Review your computer specifications and upgrade the component that is not compatible with the program or below the requirement.
