Data mining is whereby you are able to extract and perform analysis of data from different perspectives which is later summarised into useful information.  This kind of feedback is required, so that we are able to detect future trends of events and hence different businesses are able to make informed decisions.  Hence, increased revenue and cut on costs.

Data warehousing involves a combination of different types of data into one central storage area.  This can be accessed by using queries to find specific data.  It involves a combination of many different databases.  Companies will be able to utilize data warehouses by performing business overviews.  Hence, this will facilitate strategic planning.

Hope this helps.

I have to add that Data Warehousing is a procedure that must occur in advance to any Data Mining that takes place. When we do data warehousing it means the process of organizing and compiling data in one database, and data mining entails the process of extracting data from that database. Thus we can sum up that data mining firmly relies upon the gathering of data in the data warehousing stage.
