Extending Active Directory Scheme – 8224 and 8202 Error

This occurs when the time I was preparing an “Active Directory” for my Client for his fresh ConfigMgr R3 environment. Considering the process, most of the part is relevant to System Management and containers, though it went smooth entirely. I got some quite great experience dealing with Active Directory as well as with Scheme Admin.

I'm blessed with great knowledge with Scheme Admin permissions and various sorts of prerequisites in regard to extending active directory. However, the time I executed the“ExtAdSch.exe”, a quick DOS prompt windows appeared for a short while and immediately disappeared.

I have also gone through the ExtAdSch log file but ended with no helping clues. If you don't have access to log file in your system, you may install Windows Server 2008 which allows you to set it automatically creates ExtAdSch log file in root directory. Though, following is the materials contain in my log file.

Modifying Active Directory Schema – with SMS extensions. DS Root: CN=Schema, CN=Configuration, DC=services, DC=mdc Failed to create attribute cn=MS-SMS-Site-Code. Error code = 8224. Error code = 8202. Failed to extend the Active Directory schema, please find details in "C:ExtADSch.log".

I'm sure it is all about Active Directory Services issues, so I kept on trying to deal with permissions but nothing happened as well. Moreover, I've also tried to log-on and off for several times. Kindly help me resolve this issue. Thank you.

Active Directory Scheme – 8224 and 8202 Error

Hi Bettyfrance,

Just be sure you log in as a Schema, Enterprise, Domain admin and Exchange admin. Any sub domain involved? No firewall ON? No antivirus ON. This is a kind of DS error code or a replication error on a domain controller.

While making the process, do not disconnect any domain controller for configMgr otherwise you cannot extend the replication works between domain controllers even though they are separate from each other. Sometimes this error will occur when the registry or the software itself is damaged. Sometimes device driver conflicts, virus/spyware infection are the causes of the error in the system.

Hope this will help.
