Could not detect both memory stick

I have a dual core intel pc. I original have 2 GB memory DDR 2, I added 2 GB more of the same brand and specs. I have windows 7 installed, when I check computer information, its only showing 2 GB, it should show 4 GB. Is the other card faulty? I checked the new card alone, its being detected by the system, but if placed together, it shows 2 GB only.

Please help.

Worry not,

Since you have checked the new memory and its being detected by the system if placed alone, then its working. You are working with windows 7, I am assuming that you have windows 7 32 bit since only 2 GB has been detected. That is a usual system info show up for 32 bit. You system could be using 4 GB, but it will only show 2 GB in the system info.

Its your option to reinstall or upgrade to windows 7 64 bit so system can maximize and display the 4 GB memory card you placed. I am using 64 bit right now and i have 8 GB and its showing in the system info. This is the only solution for windows 7 issue with not showing more than 2 GB memory.

Or your computer does not support 4 GB max memory, check your bios for this. I hope this helps. See mine below. I am using windows 7 64 bit with 4 GB memory.
