Storage
I bought a new PC for my son a week ago. Everything was running very great until last night when my son opened it to do some research, the following error messages appeared on the screen telling:
“Windows detected a hard disk problem. Back up your files immediately to prevent information loss and then contact the computer manufacturer to determine if you need to repair or replace the disk. ”
I understood and realized that the problem is in the hard disk as described by the error code but I’m just wondering why it happened as early as this time considering that the PC was newly purchased. The hard disk model is: Seagate ST3200827AS ATA device.

This post is a friendly advice to all computer users. Blackout causes damage in CPU. Recently, my classmate have just repaired his computer because the CPU had been damaged due to the sudden blackout that was continuously experienced without prior notice. The technician said that the cause for the CPU's damage is the blackout. So be advised to get notified if there's a blackout in your place. Always shut down you computer in a proper way. Make sure that the exhaust fan is tightly locked up to the CPU and don't forget to plug-off the wire after using the computer.
Thanks and I hope you can learn from this post.

I have an I-Omega external hard drive which I frequently used on my desktop and laptop. It started giving me trouble with a warning of running a slow performance as my USB ports are not up to the mark.
The worst thing is, before my system can detect all other external devices and suddenly, they stopped detecting my external hard drive. My external hard drive is also not showing up in “My Computer” and gives me an error – Disk is not formatted and if you want to format now?
I did not dare to click yes because I have many important data and presentations which I cannot afford to lose. So, when I clicked “NO”, I got a message stating cannot read the drive.
I hope you could help me with this problem.

Hello there,
As a new user of llabview website, I want to explore everything that goes with this one. I was trying to communicate with HH506R omega thermometer using serial port communication. Then, I decided to use the parameters (such as Parity, baud rate, sto bits) because it's written in the manual. And luckily, I could write the data from the write string when it responded. But unfortunately, while returning the data, a framing error showed up. Also, I am not getting the read string in terms of ASCII characters.
It's just a random character which I don't know how to convert into ASCII format. I am using the Basic serial write and read VI from NI. Is there any way to convert the hexadecimal into ASCII characters?

Hi,
I have a task that I need to finish. I am not that good in making outputs. Well, I ought to produce a pattern that certainly comprised of four digital outputs, which are pulsed at well outlined timings. I went to a friend of mine and borrowed an NI USB 6341 and accomplished a number of tests. Unluckily, the documentation is extremely poor, and leaves most real technical questions unanswered.
I have some examples of pattern that I need to do :

I bought a new USB Kingston flash disk, but the problem is, I cannot get it to work with my laptop. My laptop is running on Vista. It is detected, yes, but I cannot have it to appear in my disk drives in My Computer. I am pretty sure my friend was able to use his flash disk few months ago, so I am not sure what seems to be the problem now. I have three available ports and have tried to plug my USB in all of those, but it is still not working. Restarted the laptop, tried it again, still no go.
I am no technical person, and do not know much about computers. Can somebody help please?

How to fix my hard drive problem?
I just bought and installed 2 Samsung hard drives at about 750 GB each. Ever since I installed my new hard drives, I've been experiencing the Blue Screen of Death. Until now. It says that I installed a new hardware, etc.
I'm not sure what's the problem of my computer and I don't know if I should return the hard drive to the store where I bought it.
I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this before? What is this problem? Any little help will be highly appreciated.

My elder sister had a defective PC because the hard disk had stopped working. The 120 GB hard drive never made any noise. It just stopped working. She bought a new hard drive and reinstalled the Windows XP Service Pack 2 and then the PC is up and running again. But the problem is, she saved a lot of her documents in the hard drive. Yesterday, she gave me the hard disk and asked me to assist her in recovering the documents from the drive.

Hi all,
Every time I boot my PC, I always get this error; “Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
I tried to fix this problem with an emergency System Repair Disk but all of my attempts failed. I also tried booting while holding F8, and F7 keys but it all failed. The system restored to an earlier point but it could not be accomplished either. I tried to use the recovery console to copy my files across and this was the pop up error message, "access denied".
