What is Paging in Computer Architecture

Paging is a distribution of disk storage for data that do not suit on the physical memory into pages. It can be used to remove the sluggish pages from RAM. Pages changes from machine architecture as it is commonly formed on the kernel of the OS. The address space on the program breaks into a permanent size pieces called Pages. It is placed on the page frames with the similar size.

Paging is implemented; if the pages are being accessed by a process and is not currently presented to RAM, it is called as the Page Fault. Page Faults are operated and handled by your OS but it cannot be seen.

It gives protection on the memory and shared memory on the tasks such as IPC that also saves memory when utilizes for DLLs.

What is Paging in Computer Architecture

Hey Haji!

Here I will tell you the main purpose and work of paging , which is as follow :

It Split memory into equal sized, small chunks -page frames.

It Split programs (processes) into equal sized small chunks – pages.

It Allocate the required number page frames to a process.

Operating System maintains list of free frames.

A process does not require contiguous page frames.

Use page table to keep track of how the process is distributed through the pages in memory

Now addressing becomes page number: relative address within page which is mapped to frame number: relative address within frame.
