The required files are missing for MAME

Hello,

I fully checked and verified the existence of zip files as in the mentioned location but I got this annoying error message in MAME while trying to run any game. How can I fix this error message? I searched for the resolution but I could not find anything. Could you please suggest me the best solution? I would be grateful to you.Thanks.

Hi Richard M Dingman,

The MAMEUI video game emulator for Computer will commonly throw an error that is:

“Error: required files are missing, the game cannot be run.”

This error is occurred because the game roms not being loaded appropriately, a misplaced “EXE file”, or video problems. To fix the issue, attempt the following”

1. Firstly, ensure game roms are in the appropriate folder. The “EXE file” that runs MAMEUI must be in the same area as the roms folder. Make assured that you haven’t dragged the “EXE” to the desktop or another location, because it will not work appropriately without the folders in the appropriate place.

2. Secondly, be sure the video game roms are not corrupted & well-kept-up in the ZIP format. Don’t unzip the files.

3. If you are sure everything is in the appropriate spot, the problem might be caused by video issues. You can frequently repair it by choosing Options >> Default Game Options >> Advanced &  confirming that Switch resolutions to fit is unchecked.
