Norton Antivirus PC 2013 version did not delete virus

Hi guys.  My desktop that has an Intel i5 processor, 4 GB RAM and Windows 7 64 bit OS was recently infected by a Win32 Trojan virus.  I perform a scan using Norton Antivirus PC 2013 version and it deleted the threat.  I re-scanned my desktop and the virus is still detected.  What do I do?

Hi Dorothy Davis,

It would delete the trojan instance but not the main file that is infecting the others, if your computer unit is badly infected the whole computer, use system restore first in order to restore the files that is not infected before attempting to scan the files, another thing is I would recommend you to use USB Disk Security in order for it to block threats after plugging in a USB on your ports, trojans are commonly found on internet downloads and history and on USB drives. Be careful about it.

Hello Dorothy,

Your system is already infected by a virus, so scanning it with your current AV won't help. This kind of situation calls for you to backup a copy of all your important and non-program files, such as files on your screen desktop, and your documents/users folder. Migrate them to a specific folder to  the next partition, probably drive D. 

Next is to re-install your operating system completely, formatting the whole drive C. Once your OS is new, don't touch your D partition until you have installed your antivirus and updated.

Since your main antivirus program gets sneak upon by a Trojan, try considering alternatives.

I have got AVG 2013 (this one's the free version, works as mighty as the bought version) and a sub-AV on my system, Smadav running up tight, and I'm always worry free about this kind of problem.

Try them, you won't regret it.
