Cmd.exe – Application Error 0xc0000142 on Running Applications

I freshly installed Windows 7 Professional in a fresh install onto a fresh primary HDD. I left the Windows 7 RC install installed as a secondary HDD on then similar computer. Booted the RC version of Windows 7 to run Outlook 2007 and export the message rules. At what time I performed this, I saved the file to my fresh Windows 7 installation's profile desktop.

While I booted again to run the fresh instance of Windows 7 Pro, it ran a disk check and discovered few errors. It completed the reboot and Windows boots very well other than I initialized receiving the error 0xc0000142 every time I attempted to run a command prompt or every other application that seems like it launches via a cmd prompt.

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.

Hi JosephGAguilar,

Dear I hope you have listened about virus. Virus is a small file having some codes that harms computer and data.

The virus attacks on running application and spread to all system. As seen in your error windows, your CMD.exe file is infected.

You should use a virus scan to remove this problem. There are a lot of virus scanners available on the internet and in market. You can get any one.

I suggest you to use Avira Antivirus 2013. It will remove your problem.

Hi JosephGAguilar,

To solve this problem you need to run “Command Prompt” as administrator mode and check.

1. At first, select Start Menu >> type “cmd” in Search bar.

2. Then need to Right-click on the “cmd” >> click “Run as administrator” & check. This will help Command Prompt run with administrative power and access to all necessary files.

If the problem still continues, get the error from the event log.

• Go to the “Start Menu” open “Event Viewer”>> Control Panel >> select “System and Security” >> clicking “Administrative Tools”>>,double-clicking “Event Viewer”.‌ For an administrator password or confirmation, you need to type the password or provide confirmation.

I would also recommend that you run a complete check disk from Windows Recovery environment & check.

• In the “Command Prompt” window, you need to type the following command plus press “Enter”

Chkdsk /R

I also recommend you to run a virus scan on the computer and check, you can run online virus scan from the link.
