Microsoft self-Extractor Error Code 110

Hey guys,

No other option is provided but OK when I try to extract a file with Microsoft self-Extractor the error below occurs when I press the OK option:

An error occurred while unzipping. One or more files were not successfully unzipped.

The error code is 110.

I need your help on this.

Hello Johnnierbailey, I have read your query.

 

The reason you are encountering this error is because your file type is not compatible with the version of Microsoft Windows you are using. You may have an older version of Microsoft Windows installed on your computer. If your WinZip archive was created with a newer version of WinZip, then it is obvious that you need to upgrade to a newer version of Microsoft Windows. If you have newer version already, then you can try updating it to the latest release update available through Microsoft updates.

 

You may also encounter this problem if the WinZip archive is corrupted during initial creation. To rectify this problem, you can try repairing archive or you can just download the archive again if you got it from internet.

 

Sometimes a virus can also cause this problem, if archive was infected by virus. You can use a antivirus software to determine if this is the case by scanning the archive. If so, then try repairing archive by removing virus with the help of antivirus.

Hi. Error code 110 usually occurred when a computer was unable to open a specified file or device. When you are trying to unzip a file, this means that your computer cannot open the file that you are trying to unzip. And this may be due to the following reasons:

1. The operating system that you are currently using is not compatible with the file type that you are trying to unzip. If you are trying to extract a file that is created on newer version of Windows while you are using an older version of it, you may not be able to extract the file.

2. Second reason may be the zip file that you are trying to extract is corrupted.

3. The zip file that you are trying to extract is infected with a virus or spyware.

To solve the issue, you can try to upgrade your Windows OS if you are using an older one. If the zip file is corrupted, try to contact the person who created it and ask for another copy of it. If you just downloaded it in any site, try finding another copy from other reliable websites. Scan or repair the zip file using your antivirus or anti spyware software.

It is a self-extracting executable or EXE file (.exe) created by using Microsoft Self-Extractor for installing software package, a hotfix package, or an update package. It is the same as when you create a self-extracting archive using file compressors like 7-Zip, WinRAR, or WinZip. If you received this error when unpacking files using Microsoft Self-Extractor, the file is probably damaged.

To verify if the file is not damaged, use 7-Zip, WinRAR, or WinZip to open the file. Both WinRAR and WinZip are paid versions. Their free version has limited functionalities. Download 7-Zip File Archiver to use a free, full-featured file compressor that has a much greater compression level than the two. If the file successfully opens with 7-Zip, or WinRAR, or WinZip, try unpacking the contents.

If there is an error while unpacking the package and can’t unpack all the files, the compressed file is definitely damaged. Try downloading the Microsoft Self-Extractor file again from a reliable source.
