Asus R2H Netbook – Battery/Power Problem

I have the following problem:

I was using my Asus R2H netbook on it's own power source (battery) when it suddenly shut down. I then connected the power cable while the battery was still in and turned it on. It started to boot for about 3 seconds then it suddenly went down again. I then put the battery aside and reconnected the power cable. Again, the same issue happened. Basically it doesn't start up anymore. Do you guys have any idea what can I do ?

Well, clearly, the hardware just gave in. It is not the battery that has the problem. Usually, in laptops, battery issues can be easily remedied. If the battery gives you headaches, you can remove it and plug your notebook in the AC outlet. Laptops can be used without any batteries and using just the AC power. If you haven’t tried it, do it now. It won’t do any harm to your notebook. It’s just like using your laptop just like an ordinary bulky desktop computer.

I think the problem with your laptop is its internal cooling fan. If it goes up for about 3 seconds then just go down instantly afterwards, your processor overheated. The cooling fan that supports the processor to maintain its temperature might be already faulty. If it doesn’t spins well, it can’t suck out the hot air inside the laptop.

Contact a technician to open your notebook and replace its cooling fan. Don’t do it by yourself. There are very delicate and small parts inside.

An overheated hardware components inside is one of the cause why computer shuts down on you. The CPU has to be in the normal temperature that computer can withstand.

Power supply can also play a big factor here, replacing the power supply is the best remedy but this depends on the damaged components. But you have to be strategic here, start from the main source going to the next possible problem. Check the fan, power balance, noise during the boot-up process. If here hear the fan running, then move on to the next step. Check for power balance, electrical source of the power cable if it's connected properly.

Cleaning your computer's dust, ventilation should have a free passes. No blocking the air ventilation and remove dust using compressed air inside fan, internal cables also play a big factor.
