Best Operating System for EM350

Hello everyone,

I have a net book from eMachines, eM350. It has an Intel Atom processor and running on Windows XP OS. Just recently, I saw a another netbook, not an eMachines brand. I look at the processor it also has the Intel Atom processor but it was running on windows 7. I so like windows 7 OS because it boots faster and also turns off faster compared to windows XP.

So, would it be alright if I changed my netbook's OS into windows 7? even though there is a sticker on my netbook saying "Designed for Windows XP".

Best Operating System for EM350

This eM350 is specially made for American consumers like us who watch their dollars but do not want to compromise and  want real performance. Acer Emachines 350 is really good in performance but just make sure you install an operating system more suited to these small machines. Usually the new buyers have this problem with the choice of Windows 7 for the operating system.

Since Windows is universally known for being memory hungry so for such a small machine like eM350, Windows 7 is not the ideal choice as and in fact it will certainly feel sluggish when you will be using it. Also, I am sure you will be aware of the fact that having only a 3 cell battery, Windows 7 only will give 4 hours of use from full charge when standing idle. May be to some 4 hours may sound good for a 3 cell battery but it doesn’t cut it in my book at allJ

If you install Ubuntu 11.04 then this netbook will give its full potential, by a tremendous speed improvement. It gives a battery time of 11.5 hours when standing idle, almost 3 times battery life under Windows 7. Unbelievable but true!! So I will recommend you not to install Windows 7 on this tiny netbook and feel sluggish.

There must be some brand difference in both of computers may be one is using 32 bit window and the second is using a 64 bit window the difference between both of these windows is that it see memory as 32 bit memory and 64 bit memory and in both cases processor works in different methods. As 64 bit memory processor will complete it task faster while 32 bit window will be slow in this case. So you can check these points.

And you can chance your windows to windows 7 and it does not require some special change to your computer. You just need to purchase a new window CD and that's it. If your computer the minimum requirements for windows 7 then you can install the windows 7 on your pc and no extra settings require for this window. But it can run faster in a case if your processor is faster and it contains the 64 bit window which will help your to make your processor speed high.

I am sure that now you can easily take decision that which window you want to run.
