Broadband Internet DSL 1 MB

I have purchased a 1 MB (or 1024 KB) DSL internet service from a provider of DSL Broadband Internet.

But why does my 1024 KB internet only allow a 120 KB/s download of any file?

Isn’t it supposed to provide 1024 KB/s download speed?

How does internet download speed calculate and breaks?

Internet Speeds vary from one place to another because of the facts that the servers of the relative website may be located at different locations around the world,you may find the difference when you are mostly browsing both the local websites and the foreign websites. And as well of the downloading speed 1mbps connection also contains both downloading and uploading bandwidth with in thus making the speed slower.

These speeds may also vary from time to time depending upon the load(amount of users) on your isp(internet service provider). Alternative you can use additional software's like idm(internet download manager) for downloading and Firefox for browsing

The broadband internet account that you signed up for is more like 1mbps DSL internet or 1 Megabit per second. This would be 1024 Kilobits per second. If you convert that to Kilobytes, you divide the number by 8 since there are 8 bits in a byte. So that would give you about 128 KBps or 128 Kilobytes per second.

The download speed is affected by the overall traffic on the ISP's lines, the speed of the website you are downloading from and any uploading that you may be doing can also affect it. That said, the download speed that you posted should be pretty much what you would get from your account based on the conversions presented.
