Need help to convert AC3 to AIFF on Mac free?

Hello,

I have some sound files in AC3 format that needs to be edited using my AIFF editor on mac. However, I need a freeware that would convert the AC3 sound files to AIFF.

Please, provide some help to convert AC3 to AIFF on mac free. If it is a detailed procedure, would appreciate some step by step instructions as well.

Hi Dudley,

The simplest way to do this is to use Quicktime Pro. Open the AC3 file in Quicktime Pro and export as an AIFF file.

There are few other free tools available which you can use:

1. DVD Studio Pro – http://rockbridgehosting.net/web-site-builder/

2. SimpleMovieX (need to install A52Codec 1.7.2 CODEC) – http://simplemoviex.com/SimpleMovieX/index.var

3. Ffmpegx – http://www.ffmpegx.com/

Dear user,

I recommend you the software AC3 TO AIFF MOUTAIN LION. This software is free to download and can convert AC3 to AIFF on Mountain Lion, Lion, Snow Leopard and Mac OS. Follow these steps to convert you AC3 files to AIFF:

1) To load AC3 files, click on Add File.

2) Click Output Format profile pull down list to select output Audio format, now select AIFF format.

3) To start mac AC3 file AIFF audio conversion, click Convert Button.

4) You can find the converted AIFF audio files by clicking Open button at the bottom of the windows.

I am also posting a screenshot of this software for your help.

Thanks for your nice suggestions guys! All of your suggestions were good, but Eastern Carl's was the easiest and most helpful. He recommended the software AC3 to AIFF Mountain Lion, which is free to download, and will convert AC3 files into AIFF files, which is exactly what I wanted.

I can now convert those AC3 files into AIFF files, and edit them on my Mac. Thank you my friend for your simple and supportive solution.
