Unable to perform a system restore

I am getting an error message :

"System Restore did not complete successfully, Your computer's files and settings were not changed.

System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because an anti-virus program is running on the computer . Temporally disable your Antivirus program and retry System Restore.

An unspecified error occurred during System Restore, (0x80070005)"

 

I have turned off my anti virus software but it produced no result. I can't find which file is the reason for the problem.

Unable to perform a system restore

Ferdie,

I got the same problem some time ago and the same error exception as you are saying , I overcome this problem with two things , try those , I hope you will also overcome your problem as I did:

• Try to disk clean up your device and also delete are the restore point by right click on the drive and then going to properties and disk cleanup and save up your disk space, as some time due to lack of disk space the system restore unable to be done.
• The second thing is that for temporary time you can uninstall your Antivirus software and after creating the restore point again install the Antivirus software.

I hope these 2 suggestions will help you to overcome with your problem.

Unable to perform a system restore

Hello Ferdie,

Uninstall your Antivirus and perform a system restore. This should probably fix the issue.

If this does not do it then try to restore the system in safe mode.

Uninstalling a program:

Go to Start –> Control Panel –> Uninstall a program.

Choose the program to uninstall by double clicking it.

Starting System in safe mode:

Restart your system, Press F8 before Windows logo. Then select safe mode.

Hi,

Firstly, I’d suggest you to uninstall the Antivirus program and try to perform a system restore and check if that fixes the issue.

If the above steps do not help, try doing a system restore from safe mode and check if that works fine.
