Epson Perfection 4490 PHOTO error

Driver epkowa (package iscan) gives excellent functionality [unsupported by the iscan-free package, requires DFSG non-free plugin in the iscan-proprietary-drivers package: iscan-plugin-gt-x750, overseas version of the GT-X750]

When I click on ok, after that I get the following error message:

The package iscan should be installed        
but it contains proprietary binary-only i386-only software.        
Therefore it is only available for i386 compatible architectures.        
Some scanners are also supported by another driver.        
If you really want to install iscan, you must do it manually.        
        
Iscan is only available as 32-bit software.        
On AMD 64-bit (x86_64) systems the scanner driver in the iscan package        
works only if also the scanning user frontend is 32-bit software.        
You can use the special frontend /usr/bin/iscan for Epson scanners        
which is included in the iscan package.        
If you like to use a standard frontend like scanimage, xscanimage, xsane, or kooka,        
you must explicitly install the 32-bit package version        
(i.e. get the package from the right media or repository).

I need to solve this. Please help.

Hello dear,

This error message clearly mentioning the package iscan should be installed and it only available in 32 bit support version. 64 bit version is there but only support to AMD systems. I guess you have 64 bit operating system as your operating system. That is why you getting an error like this. 

If need to work with this equipment you have to install 32 bit operating system. So first find or buy a 32 bit operating system and install into your machine (computer) and then re install the drivers for this equipment. This will be surely work for you.

Epson Perfection 4490 PHOTO error

 

Hi there user:

Some additional files are needed to include. To solve this, just install the iscan-plugin-gt-f720 and it will automatically install the additional firmware file that you need, so you can get rid of this error.

You will need to get information by typing ‘sane-find-scanner’. You can get the manual configuration here.
