Windows Media Player cannot access the file

Hi Experts,

I stored hundreds of audio files in an USB drive for using on another machine. I got those files on another machine but while playing I received an error message and it failed to play. It says, “Windows Media Player cannot access the file.

The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy setting”. I could not copy or transfer the same. How can I get a remedy of this issue?

Please help.

Windows Media Player cannot access the file

Hi,

First go to Start > Control Panel > Sound > Speakers > Advanced and uncheck enable audio enhancements. Moreover, go to the properties of any audio file and check if it has full access to the user and not write-protected or corrupted.

Allow full permission before copying by clicking on Properties > Security > Edit > Add and type Everyone in the box, then check Full Control and apply.

Also make sure that the USB you are using is free of viruses that can corrupt the data on your USB. Hope this will help.
